Suzuki DRZ 400 Valve Adjustment

In researching how to check the valves on my drz these are the best resources that I have found:

1. Blue Loctite! Saves tons of heartache and time later on the trail.
2. Get your shims from your local dealer, call and check first though, my guy in Leavenworth will trade me for 2.00 per shim and if he is feeling nice for free. There is no reason to buy the expensive shim kit that I can come up with.

The procedure iss very manageable and saves more than a few bucks if you do it yourself. Not to mention how rewarding it is to work on your own motorcycle. There is nothing like knowing that the job was done well and that you took care of business yourself.

Tire changing gig is taking off

So, I have my first three tires on the schedule. It took a bit to find some takers but a few guys need new rubber on their bikes and I will get to help them out. You'd think it would be easier to find people who need tires, lol. I am a little too excited to change tires for them. They are dropping the wheels with me next week and leaving them overnight so I can take care of it.

I was hoping that the rain would be light today so I could go out tomorrow and burn up the rest of my personal set so I could throw new ones off but it rained all day. I think the trails are going to be thrashed until at least Sunday and even that looks questionable. Still might be good practice though.

Monthly TARKC Meeting Tonight

Should be a really nice night. Perfect riding weather and at least three bikes headed down to the Pizza Shoppe down south for the monthly meeting tonight. We finally are getting together to plan at least one ride, and hopefully more than one if all works out like most of us hope it will. I haven't been able to make the last few meetings due to traveling out of town and I am looking forward to getting together with everyone again. The current plan is for either the first or third weekend in October. The rest of the working "plan" can be found here: http://www.rideforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=1560
